Welcome to Kyaukhtiyoo!

The Golden Rock of Kyaik-hti-yoo is the largest visit sight center in Myanmars domestic-tourism. Located  about 130 miles(200km) from Yangon. The golden boulder crowned by a Buddhist stupa stands on a clifftop like a gold gilded round rock fall frozen by Midas touch which is approximately 20 feet high and 25 feet long on the edge of the hill over 1100 km above sea-leavel. Legend has it that a hair of Buddha hold it in balance. There are many legnds about the pagoda and "Nat" (sprit gods) shrines along the 11 km uphill trek from the base camp to the pagoda. Formerly the pilgrimage season is from Octobr to May, but now it is accessible to go there the whole year. There is the new motor-car road up to the foot of the hill's highst desination to climb all the seasons for the deevotees and visitors.

There is an entrance fee of US$ 10 and video camera fee of US$ 2 . For the long walk you may hire a porter for USD 4 there and back.

At the top has Kyaik Htiyo hotel where can see  full view of the pagoda.
